Born
Rohan Wilson in 1981, Rally Bopp has come a long way in such a short
period of time. Hailing from Linstead, St. Catherine Jamaica where
Rally Bopp spent the first 10 years of his life, this little boy
would make a big move that would change his life forever. In 1991,
Rally Bopp moved to New York to be with his mother and older sister,
and to start a career in music.
At
age 12, the magic began. Rally Bopp started out doing other people's
songs, and writing poetry, which soon lead to song lyrics. As time
went on, Rally Bopp begun to write more and more poetry, and started
to get serious about his music. So much so, that he made his mind
up to pursue music full-time. In 1995, Rally Bopp got an opportunity
to perform in some clubs around New York. He hypnotized people with
his lyrics, and his stage performances left the crowd speechless.
Rally Bopp knew that he was meant to be a deejay.
In 1997, he began
to start voicing for different producers. His first two songs were
"She's Like An Angel" and Love Me". A little bit later on, he got
the attention of producer Flabba from Mo Music. Flabba put Rally
Bopp together with singer Christopher, and created three big tunes
that would launch Rally Bopp's career. "Bashy Bashy", "W-ich Gyall",
and "Gwaan Michelle" were three songs that dominated the clubs,
and local radio stations. A few months later, the music stopped.
Rally Bopp decided to move on.
After about a year
of deep soul searching, Rally Bopp decided it was time to get back
into the business. This time, he would do things different. In November
1999, he got together with Lenky from Shy Shy Records and voiced
on one of their newest riddims at the time, the Shagadelic. "Who
She" got massive radio play, both in the United States and abroad.
Upon this, Rally Bopp set the tone for future projects - thinking
bigger and better than ever!
The year 2000 has
been a very good one for Rally Bopp. He continues to voice for Shy
Shy Records, along with performing whenever he gets the chance.
Rally Bop was at 'Champions In Action' this last summer, and appeared
on the Entertainment Report (a TV show) in Jamaica.
When asked where
he gets his songs from, he couldn't say. "God juss bless me like
dat" "it's like…Wow" he says… "It is a gift that I was just born
with". When talking about all the competition that is out there,
and what makes him different from the rest, he says that he likes
to be friends with his competition, and that he looks up to them.
Two people that he looks up to are Lexxus and Elephant Man. They
have been good friends for a while and often perform together while
in New York. Speaking of the stage, this deejay is most at home
on stage, and loves to perform.
The year 2001 will
be better than the rest, as he begins production on his first album
with Shy Shy Records . This album will feature some of his old songs,
along with some new ones that are sure to blow your mind. Look out
for some new-sounding, never-been-done-before sounds from Rally
Bopp.
