Lenn
was born in Port Maria, St Mary, Jamaica. Born into a family
richly blessed with musical talent, Lenn had already developed a
keen interest in music by junior high school.
In
1989 Lenn migrated to Canada where he decided to pursue a singing
career. Lenn honed his writing skills by working with his father
Winston Hammond, the late great Jackie Mittoo and Danny
“Maestro” Lee.
Lenn’s
studio experience started in the early 1990’s, which coincided
with his charismatic stage appearance. These experiences helped
Lenn developed the sweet melodic vocals for which he is becoming
known.
Lenn’s
first single “Just The Other Night”, was released in 1996 from
the
FiWi Music “Reggae Top Ten” CD. This single landed Lenn a Juno
(Canadian equivalent to the Grammy) nomination and was also a
chart topper in Jamaica, and across North America.
Lenn
has also been recording for some of Jamaica’s top production
names, namely Fat Eyes, Cell Block and X-Rated.
“Watching Your Program”, another chart topping single was
released in 1996.
Successful follow-up singles include “See You In Zion” and
“You And I”, which earned Lenn male vocalist of the year at
the Canadian Reggae Music Awards.
Presently Lenn has the rising hit singles “Mixed Up Moods” and
“Its Over”, and his 14 track debut album now released.
Lenn
has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the music
business. These experiences have gained Lenn the reputation as a
musical force to be felt by everyone.
